Waterloo Region Trucking Company Launches Stuff-A-JBT-Truck Campaign in Support of the Residents of Fort McMurray

(AYR, ON, May 20, 2016) – JBT Transport has donated transportation that will deliver urgently needed items to people displaced by the wildfires in Northern Alberta. JBT has partnered with Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society (www.eerss.org) and Edmonton’s Food Bank (www.edmontonsfoodbank.com) in this effort. JBT is seeking the assistance of Waterloo Region businesses and the public to help Stuff-A-JBT-Truck with donated items that will be delivered to our partners on the ground. JBT is also set up to receive monetary donations on behalf of Canadian Red Cross (www.redcross.ca). Donations will be accepted until June 30, 2016.

Over 80,000 people have been evacuated from areas affected by the wildfire. The premier of Alberta recently announced “a conditional timeline” for phased re-entry by residents that is set to begin June 1. Several conditions must be met in order for that to be possible. JBT has established with their partners in Edmonton the items required to assist residents before and after re-entry.

Natalie Martin, Marketing & Social Media Coordinator for JBT says, “We are keen to get involved and help our friends in Fort McMurray. JBT is a trucking company and we thought the best way we could help was by donating transportation to help bring supplies to the front line organizations assisting displaced individuals. We are asking for donations so we can deliver a full trailer of items. We hope the response is so overwhelming that we will have to send out multiple trucks to carry all the supplies.”

Only new items can be accepted as this time. Priority items include children’s clothing (all sizes) sweatshirts/hoodies and other clothes for men and women, dog leashes/collars, diapers sized 5 & 6, nail clippers, pain medication for adults/children, band-aids, towels, face cloths, blankets and pillows. Priority non-perishable food items include canned meats/fruits/vegetables, baby formula, snack bars, juice boxes, pasta, pasta sauce and peanut butter. For a complete list of items visit: www.jbttransport.com/stuff-a-jbt-truck-donation-items.

Businesses who sign up to collect donations will receive a bin at their location and JBT Transport will pick up the donated items by the June 30 deadline. As well, individuals and businesses can collect and drop off items to JBT Transport by June 30, Mon-Fri from 8-5 (235 Waydom Dr, RR1, Ayr ON). Businesses that have access to the types of items needed are also encouraged to donate product and JBT will provide a truck to pick up.
